Perry Ellis International, Inc. (NASDAQ:PERY) Collaborates To Address Growing Mexican Market

Boston, MA 10/15/2014 (wallstreetpr) –  Perry Ellis International, Inc. (NASDAQ:PERY) (PEI) signed a licensing agreement with Kiona S.A. de C.V. to commercialize Original Penguin brands in Mexico.  The products include men’s and women’s bag, accessories and apparels including sport wears.

New relationship for Original Penguin brands

Perry Ellis International, Inc. (NASDAQ:PERY)’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Oscar Feldenkreis, said that the association with Kiona will continue create new brand opportunities. The new relationship will further extend of the existing presence of Original Penguin brands in Mexico. The company will focus more on its bags and accessories through this licensing agreement to enhance its Original Penguin brand.

Munsingwear’s Original Penguin is one of the flagship brands in the lifestyle segment of PEI’s portfolio of products. Most of the products under the Original Penguin brand are unique as it focuses strongly on Americana and vintage look.

The brand includes apparels, accessories, shoes and kid wears and available in specialty stores and upscale department across Canada, Mexico, South America, the UK and the U.S. The brands are also now available through online as well as through standalone stores for international customers.

On the other end, Kiona’s President, Antonio Fernandez said that Kiona intends to expand its business in a growing market with a new arrangement like Perry Ellis agreement. The new relationship will strengthen the portfolio of Kiona with Original Penguin brands and provide an opportunity to target fashion savvy Hispanic consumers.

The companies will launch the collection in spring 2015 in OPG retail stores in Mexico and across all the major department stores in Liverpool.
