Overland Storage Inc (NASDAQ:OVRL) Launched Innovative Solution For Cloud Infrastructure

Boston, MA 08/20/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Overland Storage Inc (NASDAQ:OVRL) continues its focus on cloud and virtualization market. Recently, the Company launched V3 hyper, a virtual desktop appliance, to target the growing needs of cloud-based infrastructure.

Overland Storage developed the product in collaboration with Sphere3D to deliver a solution in virtual appliances segment. The Company believes that the addition of V3 hyper will address the complexity of traditional physical desktops and will expand the opportunity in virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution.

The launch of V3 appliances includes two versions of V3 hyper such as V100 and V200 through its authorized partners and the price per appliance will start at $60,000 MSRP. Each model can accommodate 100 to 200 virtual desktops and increase the efficiency of 10,000 desktops. Consequently, it can reduce the cost of ownerships by $1 million for three years in a setup of 1,000 physical desktop users.

Advantage

The appliance integrates the storage, compute and network interface through a single infrastructure. The management software (Desktop Cloud Orchestrator) streamlines the process while utilizing maximum resources and provides flexibility for migration of clouds between public and private.

The solution will eliminate installation issues and reduce the cost of VDI deployments. It also improves the performance while increasing the scalability through additional storage capacity with optional SnapServer and SnapScale.

Outlook

Overland Storage’s CEO Eric Kelly said that the cloud computing drives new set of challenges though it becomes the growth engine for the next generation computing services. Therefore, the industry needs an infrastructure that combines the enterprise storage portfolio with a new set of virtual appliances through integrated Desktop Cloud Orchestrator software.

The launch of V3 hyper expects to meet the industry requirement and will deliver a virtual desktop solution that not only address the complexity of the traditional setup, but also reduce the IT infrastructure costs significantly.
