Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ:OCLR) Samples 400G CFP8 PAM4-Enabled Transceiver; Showcases Live Demo At OFC 2017

Oclaro, Inc. (NASDAQ:OCLR), an innovator and leading provider of optical communications solutions has announced sampling the 400G CFP8 transceiver used for transport/router applications. The CFP8 depends on Oclaro’s superior EML laser as well as receiver technology to offer higher rates of data between optical transport systems and high-end routers. The CFP8 offers more bandwidth than the 100G CFPx solutions. Oclaro will be demonstrating the working of CFP8 operating with 8 lasers at 50G PAM4 at the OFC in the Oclaro booth #2747

Yves LeMaitre, the President of Oclaro’s Optical Connectivity Business Unit says they will be using their PAM4-compatible laser technology together with the high capability of the receiver bandwidth to increase bandwidth in the CFP8 without compromising the size of the100G CFP2 solution. He adds that this is a big achievement that will ignite widespread use of high-bandwidth 400G optical solutions using the PAM4 that can help solve the bandwidth problems that data centers face globally.

Oclaro’s 400G CFP8 transceiver which was initially a small 40mm x 102mm x 9.5mm form factor offers customers with a high-throughput solution. By using Oclaro’s technology from its earlier CFP2, CFP and CFP4, the CFP8 offers high quality as well as high performance solutions. These include the integrated TOSA and ROSA, cooled 1310nm 28Gbps EA-DFB laser technology and 28Gbps 4 channel integrated PIN-PD array.

The Oclaro CFP8 transceiver is compliant with 400GAUI-16 electrical and the 400GBASE-LR8 optical specifications, comes with EML laser technology which has a good margin compared to the IEEE 400GbE and has a higher capability receiver bandwidth that is able to interface with different lasers. It is also compatible with the newly launched CFP8 Hardware Specification from the CFP MSA Group that is able to reach up to 2km and 10km. The CFP8 transceiver offers a much better and improved performance, data transmission as well as interoperability.

Oclaro, Inc. is a leading provider of optical accessories and modules for metro and data markets. With over three decades experience in the laser technology industry, Oclaro is well positioned to offer high quality solutions for optical networks as well as high-speed interconnects.
