Debate Ousts Halbherr
The internal debate had aggravated between the CEO, Rajiv Suri and the head of Oyj’s Digital Maps. The holistic debate was whether a unit is deemed to focus on enterprise and automotive clients or should also shift their focus to certain distinct target customers. The matter is confidential; however, knowledgeable sources, who asked not to reveal their identities, shared the discourse on the matter with the press!
Halbherr’s Expertise
NOK claimed today that Michael Halbherr, 49, shall pursue his own entrepreneurial interests and hence shall step down quite soon! The emeritus executive joined the Team Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) sometime in FY 2006, and spearheaded the organization’s efforts proactively to challenge the set of rivals in the genre of digital maps, and emphasize on broadening its net revenue sources beyond the existing wireless network equipment. Halbherr had been with NOK for eight long years; however, his stint as the CEO of HERE had only been for around four months!
After selling off its mobile manufacturing unit to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for $7.5 billion last April, and is looking in the right mode to reshape itself and exquisitely expand across new fields, profitably.
Focus On Entrepreneurial Activities
NOK revealed a public statement wherein it was mentioned that Halbherr is expected to leave the office on September 1, 2014. Mark Durant, a Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) spokesperson, declined to comment on the proceedings. Halbherr, based in Berlin, opted not to comment, in this regard. However, he mentioned ineptly that he is all set to put his focus on a series of entrepreneurial activities.
Despite the discord, Suri paid tribute to the outgoing CEO of Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) HERE, stating that he is one of the strongest players in this domain with exquisite knowhow apparent on the depth and breadth of the subject.
NOK Oyj has started headhunting for the immediate replacement; however, Cliff Fox, the Senior VP, Core Map Group (HERE) is deemed to hold the office of the Interim CEO of HERE.
