Adam Vinatieri, a four-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday and took a swipe at his former head coach during his speech.
Vinatieri played under Bill Belichick from 2000 to 2005 and nailed a few of the most clutch field goals in NFL history as he helped the Patriots to three Super Bowl titles.

In his Hall of Fame speech, Vinatieri made a joke about Belichick’s relationship with Jordon Hudson.
“Thank you for demanding excellence every single day. Your preparation, discipline and attention to detail shaped far more than my football career,” he said of Belichick. “Unfortunately, Bill couldn’t make it here today. There’s a lot going on at UNC right now.

“He may be on a recruiting trip right now, looking for the next Lawrence Taylor. I thought it was because training camp had already started. But in truth, it’s because he’s judging his girlfriend’s cheerleading competition.”
Vinatieri said, regardless of the jokes, he believed Belichick to be one of the greatest coaches in NFL history.
For what it’s worth, Hudson is a renowned cheerleader. The 25-year-old has won cheerleading championships as a coach and competitor. Hudson most recently won a world title back in April with Belichick watching.
Belichick and Hudson’s relationship was thrust into the national spotlight when he took the North Carolina Tar Heels’ job before the 2025 season. Since then, the relationship has been scrutinized in every direction.
