Naturex SA (EPA:NRX) Acquires Foaming Agents Business

Boston, MA 06/20/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Naturex SA (EPA:NRX), a French company that provides natural extracts for flavoring, acquired a foaming agent business from a U.S. player known as  Berghausen. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed but the dream was made apparent.

The acquisition of the business added to the company two foaming agents known as yucca and quillaia, which have widespread application in beverage formulas. The two forming agents are found in many products that include juices, carbonated beverages and beer, where enhanced forming characteristics.

According to Naturex SA (EPA:NRX) Communications Manager, Karine Morel, the company intends to target new customers in the U.S. with its new natural foaming agents. As for the CEO Thierry Lambert, the company aims to “pursue and accelerate the technical development” in the natural foaming agents portfolio.

Market opportunity

The company noted that the demand for quillaia accelerated over the recent past four years. The company also cited that the carbonated beverage market leads the trend in the usage of quillaia, whereas the food and beverage market features the foaming agent at 60 percent. Therefore, the company sees good business opportunities in Latin America, North America, Europe and Asia where quillaia will open it to new customers.

Acquisition marathon

Naturex SA (EPA:NRX) has of late been putting its money on acquisition deals.  In addition to the deal to acquire quillaia from, Berghausen, the company also purchased Chile Botanics to add quillaia to its portfolio earlier this year. The other acquisitions in the company include the purchase of the EU facility of the extract manufacturer Burgundy and fruit and vegetable concentrate provider Pektowin of Poland.

In 2012, it also inked a deal to acquire Decas Botanical Synergies, a U.S. cranberry firm and India’s producer of natural colors Valentine.

The acquisitions are clearly aimed at helping the company expand its geographical reach, diversify into promising segments and expansion of market share, with the endgame being achieving an increase in revenue and profits.
