Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE:MSI) Redefines Self Service Shopping Experience

Boston, MA 06/11/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE:MSI), has set the bar high on how people will be carrying out personal shopping by unveiling the most advanced personal shopping device. The self-help technology will help shoppers scan items quickly while also experiencing faster checkouts.

MC18 Capabilities

Motorola has launched its MC18 Personal Shopper, a device that aims to bridge the gap between personal service and convenient technology. The device will provide shoppers with real-time discounts coupons for any item that one may be purchasing, as well as suggestions for complementary merchandise.

The personal shopping device has already been installed in 2,000 stores globally; the device will account for 1 million transactions per day.  Retailers already using the device have reported an increase in basket size contributing a significant amount of increased revenues while also having a clear idea of customers trading pattern.

The MC18 device has specifically been designed for grocery stores, department stores, as well as hypermarkets and wholesale membership clubs. The MC18 can also be used for a wide variety of gift registry applications and for product picking by stores that deal with online orders. Store associates can use the device for price audits and inventory management, as well as price checks geared towards improving store productivity and efficiency.

Motorola’s Teams up with 3M solutions

The launch of the MC18 shopping device follows the announcement that the company had teamed up with 3M Co. (NYSE:MMM) with the aim of ensuring distribution of headsets from the 3M Peltor Headset portfolio. Initially, the agreement will see the company offering 15 headsets from MT, Peltor HT, and Tactical Pro Series functioning as complementary accessories to Motorola’s digital two way radios.

The headset’s devices will come with a one year warranty with repair services also available. The headsets will essentially help workers enhance their hearing capabilities in noisy working surroundings. The device will also protect workers who work in manufacturing plants where increased noise levels is always the order of the day.
