Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ) Participates To Promote Sustainability

Boston, MA 09/25/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ)’ Chairman Irene Rosenfeld now joined the world leaders in the United Nations Climate Summit. They announced the timeline for the sustainability of forest at the summit.

It also includes the next phase plan for the establishment of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Platform by reducing the deforestation, strengthen the smallholder livelihoods and improve the governance for forest lands.

Objective

Rosenfeld said that Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ) is proud to participate at the New York Declaration on Forests, which help to stop the deforestation while associating with global organizations and governments for one goal. Deforestation is the primary reason for the climate change, and the mission to curb the process will further benefit from the climatic conditions.

The New York Declaration on Forests plans to cut the forest loss by half by 2020 and expect to end the process by 2030. In addition, they also call for the restoration of degraded forest lands of around 350 million hectares by 2030. The New York Declaration on Forests expects that the step will reduce the global warming pollution by 4.5 – 8.8 billion per year.

Indonesia’s economy mostly depends on the palm oil production and secure the environment is a key factor for their future sustainability. In addition, it will support the supply chain of consumer goods companies including Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ).

Conclusion

The association in joint programs and the additional support including the funding from the UN-REDD and others will help the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Platform to secure the deforestation and extend the sustainable production of palm trees.

Mondelez already highlighted the progress such as $600 million investments in ten years in programs (Cocoa Life and Coffee Made Happy) to support farmers in cocoa production. Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ:MDLZ) also participated in the European wheat sourcing program (Harmony) to promote the environmental biodiversity.
