Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MSPD) shares surged by 7.84%

The company, Mindspeed Technologies, Inc., which is a global supplier of semiconductor solutions required for network infrastructure applications, announced today that SK Telecom and Contela has honoured the company with a Small Cell Industry Award at the 2013 Small Cell World Summit in London for ‘Innovation in Commercial Deployment (Operator)’. The award is especially for the public access small cell network of SK Telecom for its outstanding success over the last year.

The first wave of LTE small cells were rolled out by SK Telecom in June 2012 and had achieved worldwide recognition for the architecture of their network that featured Contelas LTE small cell technology which was powered by Mindspeed®’s Transcede® system-on-chip (SoC) processor. The technical highlights, in addition to the business case for deployment that the judges considered with the entry involved QoS (quality of service) assurance, interference mitigation and voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) capabilities and surged throughput at the edge of the cell.

The chief executive officer of Mindspeed Technologies, Raouf Y. Halim, said that the system on chip technology of the company has triggered the number of entries at Small Cell Industry Awards over a year.

Head of ICT R&D Division and Executive Vice President of SK Telecom, Choi Jin-sung, said that the award is an indication of strenuous efforts of the SK Telecom to further enhance the mobile experience of the consumers. The company is offering the service of highest reliability in the LTE coverage areas by applying innovative small cell technologies.
