Microsoft failed to fix a vulnerability for seven months
It has also emerged that Microsoft not only failed to fix a vulnerability in Windows 10 and 11 but also worsened it. The vulnerability allows hackers to take over Windows servers, Windows 10 and 11. Unfortunately, reports indicate that the company has been aware of the flaw for about seven months.
Yasser Elabd, who previously worked for Microsoft, has revealed that employees in Africa and the Middle East would occasionally engage in bribery. When he revealed the claims to the company, he claimed that Microsoft didn’t seem interested in solving the issue. Microsoft has since terminated employees involved in the scandal.
Microsoft is marketing the Surface Laptop SE to schools. The laptop is an upgrade of the device the company used to sell to schools, which many consider visually unappealing. Moreover, the new device is light, portable, and repairable. Unfortunately, the device is also slow, with a battery that wouldn’t last the school day.
In 2021, SentinelOne discovered some severe weaknesses in a Microsoft device’s password recovery tool. These weaknesses would have compromised the security of devices that Microsoft Defender for IoT protects. This was a bad sign as Defender for IoT is supposed to offer an extra layer of protection to customers.
Fortunately, the company has now fixed these vulnerabilities. There is no sign that any hacker took advantage of the weakness.
