The much anticipated operating system will be the latest upgrade to the Windows family. Microsoft announced that the product will be available for free download on July 29. The company has already sent out notifications to Windows users. The notifications appear on the taskbar and prompt one to reserve their free update by signing in via email.
The update will first be available for PCs while the updates for devices such as Windows phones, Xbox, and others will take place later on. The interface looks astounding and is well organized. Windows 10 is expected to be very lucrative for Microsoft. However, there are a few issues that might discourage some users from upgrading to the new OS. For starters, word on the tech streets has is that the system will be optimized for touch devices, thus will not favor the regular interface.
Microsoft responded to the worries by returning some of the features that had been excluded. Other worries have since cropped up. For instance, the fact that Windows 10 will not feature Windows Media Player and a few other features found in Windows 7. DVDs might also not have it easy this time as there lacks proper support. Users will thus have to install external drivers if they want to watch movies on DVDs with the Windows 10 operating system.
There are fears that Windows 10 might not support some software though it has not been confirmed. Additionally, there are reports that Cortana will only be featured in limited regions such as the United States, China, France, Italy, Germany and the UK. The manner in which Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) delivers software updates will also be altered, something that users might not find very pleasing.
Regardless of the negatives there are many more things to look forward to on July 29.
