Prahalad Award by the Corporate Eco Forum (CEF). The award was presented in Virginia at the 5th Annual C.K. Prahalad Awards ceremony of the Corporate Eco Forum, in which people with internationally-sound private sector action for exemplifying connection between innovation and sustainability, are honoured. Apart from Tamara TJ DiCaprio; The Global Water Challenge as well as Robert Carter, Executive Vice President of Information Services & Chief Information Officer at FedEx, was also awarded.
Award given for Microsoft’s internal Carbon Fee Program
Tamara TJ DiCaprio was awarded for being the Chief Architect as well as driving force of Microsoft’s internal carbon fee program. The program has remained a crucial element of the environmental sustainability strategy of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). Tamara TJ DiCaprio has also authored the book entitled ‘Carbon Fee Playbook,’ which guides other companies over implementation of their own corporate carbon fee programs.
About the Carbon Fee Program of Microsoft
The founder of Corporate Eco Forum, M.R. Rangaswami explains that the carbon fee program of Microsoft is one of the most innovative approaches undertaken by a major company for bringing down the greenhouse gas emissions.
The program, ever since its inception, has funded 20 carbon offset projects and has also helped funding of Microsoft’s 20-year power purchase agreement in Texas for 110 megawatts of wind energy.
The program has allowed Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to receive carbon neutrality in 2013 fiscal year; thereby becoming the second highest user of renewable energy in the U.S.
