Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Invests $346.7 Million For Expansion Of Operations Center In Mecklenburg County, Virginia

Boston, MA 06/12/2014 (wallstreetpr) – The Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has decided to expand the data center site in Mecklenburg County of Virginia by investing $346.7 million. This will be done in order to increase the capacity of the company to cater to the growing customer base.

Microsoft’s Project

The original project of Microsoft, which was rolled out in the year 2010, involved the investment of approximately $499 million with 50 new jobs. In the year 2011, the company invested another $150 million for expansion of the site and later in 2013, it announced to invest $348 million for expansion. The third expansion project of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has brought it to a total capital investment of over $1.3 billion since the year 2010.

Virginia’s Efforts to Secure the Project

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked along with the Mecklenburg County in order to secure this project. In getting hold of this project, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Dominion Virginia Power as well as Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation also played a crucial role.
