Boston, MA 08/22/2214 (wallstreetpr) – Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) recently agreed that it would go for installation of OPERA SOFTWARE ASA (OTCMKTS:OPESF) Internet browser on mid-market and cheaper mobile phones which were inherited from Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK). This means that Microsoft has plans of installing Opera Mini on approximately 100 million mobile phones in the present year only.

Microsoft’s Revival Plan for Nokia Phones

The deal of putting Opera Mini in Nokia mobiles comes after the company finished off its $7.5 billion Nokia mobile business acquisition deal in April 2014. Also, in the meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) had announced that it will be slashing 18,000 jobs in order to half the size of mobile phones business of Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK).

Opera Mini on Basic Feature Phones

Opera said that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) would be ready to install Opera Mini on the feature phones, the phones which have more capability than the smartphones, because this Internet browser is renowned for saving data charges as well as compressing content, which will prove useful for the basic models.

The browser is, at present, installed on 250 million phones and mainly in emerging markets rather than developed ones. The browser has the capability of compressing approximately 90% of the data, while saving bandwidth. Also, this browser is compatible with all the devices that run Internet.
