Losing Stocks: Chimerix Inc (NASDAQ:CMRX), Sears Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:SHLD), Interface, Inc. (NASDAQ:TILE)

Boston, MA 10/09/2014 (wallstreetpr) – 8th October saw investors reducing their exposure to drug maker Chimerix Inc (NASDAQ:CMRX) shares, after news trickled out that a patient who was suspected to be suffering from Ebola died at a Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. The patient Thomas Duncan had been administered an experimental Ebola treating drug developed by Chimerix Inc (NASDAQ:CMRX). The drug maker had received an approval from the U.S Food and Drug Administration to proceed with usage of the under development drug earlier this week. The share price of the stock was down by as much as 11 percent during trading yesterday before it scripted a partial climb back. The stock ended 0.96 percent lower than 7th October close price.

Retailer Sears Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:SHLD) saw a huge 4.7 percent dip in its share price yesterday. This development was triggered by news reports in front line newspapers like The Wall Street Journal that the embattled retailer had been denied a shipment by one of its regular vendors. The new reports go on to explain that the decision by the vendor to halt shipments to the departmental store operator is related to delayed payment issues. Speculation amongst the financial community indicate that vendors are becoming increasingly worried about the ability of Sears Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:SHLD) to honour its payment commitments due to the bleak cash flow situation it faces.

Interface, Inc. (NASDAQ:TILE) shares slid by nearly 12 percent during trading on 8th October, after it dropped its revenue and sales forecast for the third quarter.  The Modular carpet manufacturer has indicated that the weakness in demand for its products, coupled with postponed deliveries had led to the reduction in outlook. The firm also disclosed that the cost of restructuring its operations has ballooned upwards to $12.5 million as against the $3 to $5 million it had anticipated in July this year.
