Legacy of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Iphone

Boston, MA 02/05/2014 (wallstreetpr) – You would be mistaken to think that an iPhone is a device made from new advanced technology that was not available back in the 90’s. In new revelations, it has been found that iPhone devices possess some of the distinct features that made up the 1991 radio shack ad. This should keep you rumbling as a huge dis to the so called modern digital era that clearly undermines the true pace of innovation that we have come to expect of the so called modern technologies. The only difference between modern iPhones and the so called ‘iPhones’ of the 1990’s lies on the difference in price tag as it would have cost more to have an iPhone in those ages than in the modern era

How the difference in prices has come about

One of the greatest variance lies on the storage capacity niche, in the current times a gigabyte of hard disk essentially costs $0.04 compared to $10,000 in 1991. An iPhone uses 1GB worth of RAM which costs in the margins of $0.55 compared to $45,000 it would have cost in early 1991. Taking into consideration these margins an iPhone 5S which has 32GB worth of internal memory would have cost $1.44 million in 1991.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) IPhone5S with its latest A7 processor with GPU graphics that totals around 1 billion transistors running at speeds of 1.3GHZ  would have cost $620,000 in 1991. This is when it was compared with one of the greatest Intel’s of 1991 that was used on Dell desktop computers with a total of 1.185 million transistors and total speeds totaling 20MHz. In 1991 this PC only cost $3000. Mobile phones in 1991 used AMPS analog wireless network with the capability of delivering kilobit voice connections. During this period a 1.44 megabit cost around $1000. Comparing with the modern iPhone in terms of wireless capability an iPhone with 4G LTE capability would essentially have cost $1.,5 million back then.

This is only a part of what the iPhone has evolved to provide comparing with phone of the 1990’s, it would be prudent to say that an iPhone would have been a far-fetched dream even for the so called elite of the modern society. It would also have been extremely difficult to pack these entire modern features ranging from cameras to iOS into even a refrigerator.

To rest the case, it is right to compare a phone that cost $3000 in the 1990’s to the modern iPhone even though both feature similar traits in terms of technology.
