Koninklijke Philips NV (ADR) (NYSE:PHG) Sponsors HX360 Innovation Challenge

Koninklijke Philips NV (ADR) (NYSE:PHG) announced that it will be co-sponsoring the HX360 Innovation Challenge. The innovation challenge is a group competition regarding the most significant contributions to improving patient experience including patient satisfaction and convenience.

According to Jeroen Tas, CEO of Healthcare Informatics Solutions and Services, giving patient power over their healthcare is a critical part of the next generation of healthcare. He further stated that there was a need to develop a vibrant ecosystem with better inputs and collaborations with the patients to enhance clinical decision-making.

Philips also realized the need to harness the experience and creativity of people involved in the healthcare business like professionals, patients, app developers, and businessmen. He further aims to make a system with improved patient engagement.

The final HX360 Innovation Challenge took place on April 14. Mr. Tas called forth one of the four finalists to pitch their idea. The finalist then participated in an expert Q&A after the pitch. The whole talk was done in presence of various senior VPs, a global partner of healthcare transformation services and various healthcare industry leaders.

The impact of tech changes on healthcare. Tech changes have impacted everything from office to clinic to home. Jeroen Tas talked about the impact of tech changes on provider organizations.

Mr. Tas shared his perspective on how the healthcare industry can capitalize on analytics for more efficient and consumer driven healthcare.

The last was the need for entrepreneurship and innovation in the health care industry. Carla Kriwet, Executive VP and CEO of Patient Care and Monitoring Systems, Philips spoke on the matter.

Philips challenged teams to come up with new prototypes for Philips HealthSuite Digital Platform (HSDP). The HSDP is an open source cloud-based IT infrastructure that secures collection of various kinds of health and lifestyle data for analysis and integration of the data.
