Boston, MA 06/24/2014 (wallstreetpr) – JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) announced expanding ‘The Fellowship Initiative’ to Los Angeles and Chicago. It has also planned to increase the class size in New York City, where the initiative was first launched.
JPMorgan had started the Fellowship Initiative in 2010 as a multi- year pilot project. It offers an opportunity to young men of color to participate in a comprehensive, practical experience gaining program that encompasses support for them in various fields such as in academics, social and emotional walks of life. The program seeks to assists these individuals, mainly belonging to the Black and Latino backgrounds, in achieving professional and personal success.
Successful Evaluations
By means of the program, the financial holding JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) wanted to evaluate the capabilities of colored men to rise in academic and personal grounds. It was observed that the 24 Fellows who had been enrolled in the 3 year pilot showed elevated academic endeavors and had higher career aims. They also reviewed to undergo a life changing experience from the program. The students also reported to collectively gain a total of $8.4 million in scholarships and grants after attending the pilot.
Expansion Plan
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM)’s expanded initiative will be including features like academic training and hands- on experience based learning through students’ school year. It will also provide Fellows with an opportunity to get leadership and entrepreneurship training and additionally receive personal guidance from employees of the bank. As part of the program, college trips, workshops and other team building events will also be organized. The students will also be given SAT preparation coursework.
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) will enroll 120 students, 40 from each city, in the program. The recruitment for The Fellowship Initiative started in May, with orientation scheduled to be held in June. The full program will commence from October, beginning with a week on college premises.
