JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) Records 8.1% Growth In Revenue Passengers In September

Boston, MA 10/13/2014 (wallstreetpr) – JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) disclosed that it recorded growth in traffic, load factor, revenue passenger miles, available seat miles, revenue passengers and departures. However, it recorded a fall in its average stage length. Will the growth help in the company deliver better than expected results for the third quarter?

September Data

In a statement issued to the media, the company stated that its traffic grew 7.1% in September over the last year September driven by 5.1% increase in capacity. Its load factor advanced 1.4 points to 80.9% from 79.5% in the year-ago month. Its preliminary completion factor was 99.7% while its on-time performance was 86.1% in September.

JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) said that its preliminary revenue per available seat mile for September witnessed an increase of 1% over the previous year month. Revenue passengers recorded 8.1% uptick while departments grew 4.9% over the last year September month. However, its average stage length recorded 1.1% fall during the period under review.

YTD Data

The company also disclosed the year-to-date data on its key metrics. Its revenue passenger miles advanced 4.6% for the nine-month period fuelled by 4.4% growth in available seat miles in the same period.

JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU)’s load factor witnessed ten basis points improvement to 84.7% from 84.6% in the same nine-month period of the previous year. Its revenue passengers advanced 4.2% whereas departments grew 4.0%. Its average stage length remained flat with last year.

Earnings Expectations

The company is scheduled to announce its financial results for the third quarter on October 23 before the market opens. It will also hold a conference call on the same day at 9.30 a.m. ET.

On average, Wall Street analysts’ are expecting JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) to report earnings of 27 cents a share on revenue of $1.55 billion for the third quarter. This indicates that analysts’ are estimating 28.6% growth in earnings on revenue uptick of 7.4% from 21 cents a share on revenue of $1.44 billion achieved in the last year third quarter.
