Is American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) Changing The ‘Bag Rule’ For A Better Service?

Boston, MA 04/10/2014 (wallstreetpr) –  American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) is known for its business in Airlines industry. It successfully operates air-service in 160 destinations all over the globe. It covers the major continents like North America, Europe, Asia, South America and many more. Thomas W Horton, the Board Chairman of American Airlines has announced its successful control of around 1500 departures every day. The company reported its financial report for 1Q2014 where it posted a revenue which declined due to worst weather condition this winter.

Winter cover story of the company:

The officials of American Airlines declared that the company’s 1Q2014 revenue has suffered significantly by $115 million due to bad weather condition. They also added that the prediction of operating margin will be below the expected margin. The initial two months of the year were a devastating time for the U.S. air service. Out of 74,000 flights cancelled by the major four U.S. airlines, 34,000 flights are from the desk of American Airlines. The condition went out of control due to snowfall, icy-rainfall and uncontrollable weather.

New baggage charges declared from the company’s desk:

The huge sacrifice of 1Q2014’s revenue of American Airlines became dormant after the release of news on the modification of baggage charges. The company is working on a new policy to change the baggage charge and mileage rule, which is supposed to be introduced by June, 2014.

Charges applicable on the second bag:

The company is on the way to impose a charge of $25 for the first bag and $ 40 for the second between the U.S. to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. On the flip side, a charge of $70 may be imposed on the second bag for checking into the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico from South America. However, the charge is much less than that of last year that can probably relief the travellers.

Now it’s time to see, how this new tactic works and benefits the company, keeping the travel cost reasonable and schedule a safe journey.
