Investor Takeaway: Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR), Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)

Boston, MA 02/07/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) is now convinced that an end to its several years of struggle is now possible and this could be achieved over the next two years. The company recently as of November last year, announced the launch of six new production platforms. This development should end its two-year decline in output, a factor that has contributed to its financial woes. It is reported that nearly a quarter of the company’s value has vanished over the past year as it grapples with low prices, high operating expenses, poor production levels and widening debts. Now with the additional new six platforms, PBR hopes it can challenge PetroChina as the world’s second largest publicly traded oil company. Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) added 44 cents to its stock price in the previous trading session after gaining more than 4 percent in regular session to close at $11.22.

Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM) made interesting notes this week which helped the stock to gain the most in as many weeks. The company announced incredible fourth quarter revenue increase of 15 percent to $436 million. This translated to adjusted net income of 55 cents on diluted shares. Analysts on the other hand had pegged their hopes on sales of $422.39 million and 52 cents EPS for the quarter. Better still, the company announced a strong outlook whereby it hopes to generate revenue in the range of $426 – $442 million and adjusted EPS of 51 cents to 55 cents. These estimated figures exceed Wall Street view of $412.8 million revenue and 49 cents EPS. As if that is not enough, AKAM said that Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was still its customer, thus succeeding to alley investor fears.   Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM) gained more than 20 percent to $57.18 on these positive news in the previous trading session.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is being generous this romantic month of February whereby the company is offering free games and apps to its Blackberry 10 users. In a news release, the company announced that it is running giveaways on popular games and daily apps as part of its Valentine’s Day promotions. The said promotion runs through February 19. During this giveaway period, the company allows BB10 users to download free app a day and enjoy some of its premium games.
