Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) Inside Samsung Coming Soon

Boston, MA 06/19/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is being cited as the technology behind a soon-to-launched Samsung Electronic smartphone device. It is rumored that the device will feature one of the recently launched Intel chips that provide high speeds, energy efficiency, graphics and a wide range of other enhanced features.

Earlier this year, Intel launched two mobile processors codenamed ‘Merrifield’ and ‘Moorefield’, which are targeted at the tablets and mobiles market where Intel is struggling to make inroads. If the latest reports are real, Intel inside Samsung will mark an important milestone for Intel in mobile chipset business.

Samsung makes and sells millions of mobile phones around the world, and most of its mobile devices are powered by chips from QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM), which dominates the mobile chips business, especially in the high-end market, at the expense of Intel.

New powerful chipsets

The Intel Moorefield chipset provides faster memory and enhanced graphics support. It also supports low energy consumption, which means that it enables the device to function efficiently even when the battery is low. The rumored Samsung smartphone could be the first mobile device to feature Moorefield chip, which was originally intended for small tablet devices.

Rumors that Samsung may feature Intel inside its upcoming mobiles devices comes at a time when its archrival Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also readying a fresh line of iPhone devices. High-performance smartphone makers are seeking to put more power into their fresh line of devices in apparent efforts to ward off competition from competitors offering cheaper devices.

Growth at the expense of profits

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is reported to have offered Samsung a sweet deal to include its chips in the upcoming smartphone. The company appears to be sacrificing profits on the altar of growth. After all, Intel inside a Samsung smartphone will help the company to gain recognition in the mobile market so that it can wrestle the market from QUALCOMM (NASDAQ:QCOM) and repair its revenue column.

Intel is currently troubled by the decline in PC sales, and the company is trying all means possible to penetrate the lucrative mobile and tablet market.
