Boston, MA 10/30/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Integrated Device Technology Inc (NASDAQ:IDTI), designer, developer, manufacturer, and marketer of a range of semiconductor solutions for computing, communications, and consumer industries, has announced recently a new wireless power receiver that is optimized for portable consumer applications and which meets the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC) 1.1 “Qi” specification. Because of award-winning wireless power family of the company, the new device has expanded much, thus offering a high-efficiency, wireless power solution that is cost effective to portable device manufacturers for universal compatibility with the Qi charging bases.
In order to meet the needs of the WPC 1.1 specification, the IDTP9025 is a single-chip wireless power receiver that is IC certified and offers improved FOD (foreign object detection) compared to earlier versions of the standard. This device includes low resistance LDO (low-dropout) regulator and an onboard synchronous full-bridge rectifier that enables customers to fully achieve power transfer efficiency with a minimum board space and external component count. In high-volume portable devices, it is very crucial to have a high-efficiency and cost-effective design where physical size and battery life are a primary concern, such as in tablets, smart phones and related accessories.
The general manager and vice president of the Analog and Power Division at the company, Arman Naghvi, said that their latest WPC 1.1 wireless power receiver expands their portfolio of wireless power to address high-volume portable consumer products. He said that IDTP9025 enables their customers to develop high-efficiency and compact wireless power solutions which is in compliance to the latest standards, thus ensuring universal compatibility with Qi charging bases. He further added that the company provides a WPC 1.1-certified layout guidelines and reference design with their evaluation kits so that it would be easy for their customers to obtain WPC certification for their products. There is also one added control mechanism that is capable of passing power transfer information and communication to a local microcontroller.
