How Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) and Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) Tackle Competition?

Boston, MA 02/17/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has battled hard for the pickup truck market segment and maintained its dominance for the last 37 years. However if we compare the figures for General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM) for its both models Chevrolet’s Silverado and General Motors’ Sierra, the margin decreases substantially. The F-150 remains the most dominant brand in this segment but General Motors is not very far behind. Ford is already upgrading the F-150 totally and expects slightly less figures for 2014 as old version stocks are liquidated and new model launched. This could present a window of opportunity to General Motors to close the gap further. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) will have to play the cards very closely to ensure its dominance in this vital segment in North America.

In a similar fashion, all eyes are on Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) as investors and analysts are watching how the company performs in the current quarter. The last quarter saw a solid performance on the back of the fire at its competitor’s plant, the acquisition of Elpida as well as strong demand from smartphone and tablet segments. The Hynix facility is now back on stream, the demand from smartphone segment seems to be easing off, hence there is cause of concern. Can Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) handle this situation and deliver better results? The company has the potential to do so.

Another company facing multiple competitors is Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). The question about its CEO seems to have weighed on its performance. Microsoft has not turned in a stellar performance even in a loosely competitive market segment like game box consoles. Both Microsoft and Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) had near simultaneous release of their new versions of game box consoles. Sony seems to have edged past Microsoft as figures suggest that Sony Corp (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) has sold about 5.1 million Playstation 4 versus Microsoft’s 3.4 million Xbox One units. Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) is readying another battle, this time in the smartphone handset segment as it completes the acquisition of Nokia Corp (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)’s handset division.
