Boston, MA 09/16/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) announced offering of two tablet devices targeting the French market. The move signals the company’s commitment to penetrate the mobile hardware market, which is lucrative, but competitive at the same time. The new devices claim longer battery life, which could be an advantage against rivals.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) launched two new tablets that appear to be exclusively for the French market as they have not been announced elsewhere, at least so far. The new tablets are namely HP 8 G2 and HP Tablet 7 G2, all of which run on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. The devices come in different specifications, and they also ask for different prices, but they generally appeal to the low-cost market. The HP Table 7 G2 asks for 112 euros while PH 8 G2 asks for 180 euros.

Device specifications

As for specification, the HP Table 7 G2 boasts 1.2 GHz Allwinner a33 processor. It is also bundled with 1 GB of RAM and expandable storage capacity of 8 GB. The device spots 7.0-inch display screen and is fitted with Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth capabilities. The device claims five and a half hours of battery life.

The launch of the devices with longer battery life reveals Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ)’s strategy to try to win over consumers that do more with their mobile devices.

The provider of the A33 processor used in the devices is also a company known for its focus on low-power consumption. Allwinner is a Chinese company, and the A33 processor is among its latest products launched in June this year.

Keep the devices updated

According to reviewers, Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ)’s devices have a chance for success in the French market. However, the company would have to keep the devices up-to-date to increase their appeal on the market.
