Boston, MA 09/24/2014 (wallstreetpr) – According to reports, Havoc 8×8 Armored Modular vehicle of Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) has successfully completed the challenging Butte Mountain Trail course of Nevada Automotive Test Center. It is considered as one of the severe off-road test tracks of the planet. It’s the first time when LMT has teamed up with Patria in order to enter in US market with Havoc.
Insights of the course:
The course is close to one mile long and has extremely rocky and rugged stretches with close to 1,000 feet of elevation change. These stretches and elevation changes have damaged a lot of vehicles over the years. While interviewing, Scott Greene, Vice President of Ground Vehicles at Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) told the reporters that LMT vehicle performed more than 40 test run-ups over the course of ten days. He further added that the quality of LMT’s vehicles was tested by putting them on a rocky surface, where any other vehicle would have failed easily, but Havoc 8×8 Armored Modular vehicle performed extremely well. He said that Havoc didn’t stop even for once during the testing, even after the course organizers warned that this course had stopped many vehicles over the years.
The testing of this vehicle was organized and funded completely by Lockheed Martin in order to validate company’s solutions for the needs of Marine Corps, which needed a robust and survivable wheeled amphibious vehicle. Once the AVC program is under way, Marine Corps will organize amphibious, automotive and protection tests of 16 Havoc vehicles. Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) is expecting the request of the program in the first half of 2015. Havoc is a fully amphibious, completely protected, multi-mission and expeditionary ground combat vehicle which shows a complete turnaround of the Patria 8×8 Armored Modular Vehicle. It is mainly used by the armed forces in battlefields.
