Greenlight Capital Buys Fresh Stake In General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)

Greenlight Capital, owned by the prominent hedge fund manager David Einhorn has bought a fresh stake in General Motors Company (NYSE:GM). It’s been almost a year since Greenlight left its position in General Motors; hence, this decision of Greenlight has bewildered most of the shareholders. As per the reports, the information was revealed by Greenlight in a letter written to its shareholders on Monday.

Why A Fresh Transaction At This Moment:

Greenlight firmly believes that General Motors presented a great example in front of all the investors by recalling more than 2.5 million vehicles in 2014 due to ignition switch issues. It not only showcased how committed the company was to ensure the safety of its users, but also its fast response to address the issue. Greenlight expects General Motors to start the buyback procedure for shares worth $5 billion. It is one of the many steps that Greenlight has taken lately to improve its portfolio and market reach in the near future.

Apart from investing in General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Greenlight has also entered into long-term investment deals with Chicago Bridge, AerCap Holdings NV and Iron Company NV. As per the reports, it has executed all of these transactions in the first of 2015. The company analyzed the current market situation effectively and decided to exit its position in Aetna Inc. Greenlight made public its decision to all the investors soon after the procedure was executed.

While addressing to all the shareholders through an investment letter, Einhorn revealed details of all these transactions in the simplest way possible. He expects that all of these transactions will help the company in strengthening its position in the market in the near future. He also ensured that the company would keep executing such transactions in the coming quarters as well to keep rolling the ball and achieve organizational objectives.
