Boston, MA 10/09/2013 (wallstreetpr) – The executive chairman of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Eric Schmidt was found stating that Google’s Android operating system is much more secure when you compare it with Apple. No doubt, this statement is contrary to the true facts and this prompted a huge round of laughter from the audience who were present at the Gartner Symposium where the chairman was speaking.
When a question and answer round was ongoing, one of the analysts of Gartner brought up the questionable nature of security platform of Android and it was then that Schmidt came up with this reply which was taken to be humorous by the audience.
There have been a lot of reports and factual data extraction which has often pinpointed that Apple is far more secure and it is the high end security that is one of the prime reasons for its excellent hold in the market. Schmidt however had another story to tell. He stated that there are more than a billion users of the Android platform and the fact that Android will remain in the market for a long time ensures that a lot of real world security testing is always carried out. The success of the Android platform and the presence of so many users is in itself a proof of the type of security the platform offers.
However, in March 2013, senior vice president of marketing sector of Apple tweeted a report from research company F-Secure that showed that the amount of mobile threats that were present were growing at an alarming rate and the platform where they were growing at the highest rate was Android. Hence, the statement by Schmidt is definitely worth a round of laughter because it will take a long time for Google to offer the same security status as that which is currently being offered by Apple. It looks like not everything is rosy for Google.
