Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Calendar Service To Stop Sending SMS Notifications Starting June 27, 2015

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has decided to terminate its Google Calendar SMS notification service from June 27, 2015.

The company has a valid reason for terminating the service. The SMS service was initiated before smartphones were invented. Google claims that the service is obsolete. Besides, the current existing smartphone technology has a much simpler interface that makes the whole experience much better. With things elevating towards the digital world, the move to discard the SMS service will be a positive movement that will focus on a forward direction.

Google has given its users less than a month to choose an alternative service. There are a few options that users can incorporate. The first one is the default calendar application on all smartphones. The other option involves installing a secondary calendar app. The process itself is simple, and installation is basic.

The termination of the SMS service will make the transition from the old service to alternative solutions will be a necessity for smartphone users. It will, however, be tougher for people who do not use smartphones. There is no alternative method of getting information and notifications from Google Calendar.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) claims that the change will not make any significant changes to Google apps. The transition is expected to give way for new additional tweaks to the calendar services to make it more user-friendly and comprehensive. The decision is more like a move to clean up and get rid of services that are running obsolete.

This mentality is important to keep the company on its feet and in line with changing technology. It is also a show that the company does regard its services, including those that are not so new but still useful. The decision is in line with Amazon’s move to incorporate Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) calendar with its Echo interface. The service makes use of audio command and enhances a few more features for optimal user experience.

The only question left is which between the primary applications or the secondary one fully optimizes the calendar application.
