Boston, MA 02/05/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) in the first week of February saw some interesting developments.
First, it was a licensing-deal which now allows it to cross- license with Samsung as well as Cisco Systems, Inc.(NASDAQ: CSCO). Both Cisco and Google have had tough patent trolls and have been urging for stronger reforms. This new deal, will now offer nominal protection and an attempt to bring in higher revenues with the current crop of Intellectual Properties they own.
Page sets up slew of Management changes
Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG)’s chief Page, who assumed office in 2011, has chosen to move around trusted and long-time lieutenants to reinforce his leadership as well as improve goodwill across the giant technology company.
One of his first move’s, which was unexpected, was to move Andy Rubin from the Android mobile Unit and hand it over to Sundar Pichai, who headed Chrome unit.
This time around the unlikely change of guard was in the YouTube unit.
Womjcicki moved to YouTube Head
Page has made changes in Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) which appear to bring effectiveness. This time it is Advertisement Executive at Google Ads – Susan Wojcicki.
She goes a long way back with Google Inc and is incidentally the 16th employee at the company. She now takes over from Salar Kamangar’s who is reportedly the ninth employee at Google. He has been running YouTube after the departure of founder of the channel Chad Hurley. Salar Kamangar’s move away from the top-spot after Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) acquired the user-generated video website YouTube back in 2006 valued at $1.65 billion, had become strong in the past year.
New ideas for YouTube
Meanwhile Wojcicki, who it appeared, wanted independent charge of one of Google Inc’s products was chosen over Kamanagar’s assistant. Wojcicki is known to have backed the acquiring of YouTube. Now, as YouTube has reportedly generated $5.6 billion in the past year and is expected to grow in user base from mobile users, Wojcicki it appears to be the right person at the right place.
It is believed that Google Ads, which is the corner-stone of Google Inc’s revenues, was the result of Wojciciki’s efforts. In the recent years YouTube programmers have been disgruntled and this move will bring new paradigms to user-generated video content channel.
