General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) To Join Hands Together With Dan Gilbert For Offering Bike Sharing At Work

Boston, MA 08/27/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Last few months have not been that fruitful for General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) due to various reasons, but it has not decided to give up. According to recent reports, GM has decided to enter into a partnership with Zagster, which is located in Cambridge. Zagster specializes in managing bike sharing fleets for businesses, hotels, companies and universities. The main reason behind this partnership is but the initiative taken by General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) sometime back to set up bicycles around its 330-acre campus. According to report, it was a signature accomplishment of the well-known architect Eero Saarinen in the 1950s.

How Will These Bikes Help GM:

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has more than 19,000 tech center employees; therefore, all of these people will use bicycles for commutation within the office. Tech employees used to find it very difficult to commute between different buildings of tech center; hence, these bikes will save their time as well as give them a chance to stretch their muscles at workplace. The idea of providing bikes to all the employees for their usage within the company was earlier tested in the month of July. The management of General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) confirmed that employees were very excited about this idea, so the company had decided to implement it with full force.

How Can Employees Use These Bikes:

Initially one will have to register online for this program. Then he will have to reserve a bike via text message or Smartphone app. He will be given his unlock code via app or text message only which he will use to unlock the lock box mounted on the bike. The bike stands use solar energy through panels that are in-built. A few other bike-sharing systems of the country also do the same.

Each bike will have space for notebook, laptop and other small belongings. All the riders will have to wear a helmet and put belt on to alert pedestrians.
