Boston, MA 08/11/2014 (wallstreetpr) – It appears that the biggest automaker in the U.S. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) can’t have an answer as to when the recall of vehicles would stop since the company had to initiate six more recalls on Friday. It is turning out to be a year of the recall for the largest U.S. automaker. It had already made a number of recalls and yet it can’t come out openly to say that the recalls were over.
Latest Recall
On Friday, the company had recalled over 312K vehicles throughout the world through six recalls. The recalls were mostly Saturn Vues manufactured between 2002 and 2004 since it was quite possible to take away their ignition keys from the vehicles even when the vehicles were running.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) had recalled 72,826 Cadillac ATS, Buick Encore Cars, Chevrolet Trax in Canada, and SUVs of the 2013 model year. The recall of 15,386 Chevrolet Impalas between 2014 and 2015 included LTZ and LT models. The company’s dealer would also replace the latch. Though the company disclosed that it was not aware of any injuries or crashes, it was ordering dealers to hold the cars till the repairs were made.
Similarly, 3,624 Cadillac ATS sedans of 2013 and 2014 and 3,110 Chevrolet Spark minicars of 2014 were called to fix the problem of front lighting and the lower control at arms bolts might not be tightened to requirements. The General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) indicated that the car owners were kept informed about dealerships for inspection and tightening.
Total Recall
There were more than 40 million recalls of vehicles through the world in the current year, which was a yearly record. The latest recall had taken the total recalls to 66 covering about 29 million trucks and cars. The total number of the recall in the industry in the current year also reached over 40 million, which was also a record. Of this, 16.5 million cars throughout the world were recalled for ignition-related issues.
