General Electric Company (NYSE:GE)’S Proficy® Software To Help Cincinnati With Wastewater System Management

Boston, MA 09/10/2014 (wallstreetpr) – General Electric Company (NYSE:GE)’s unit, GE Intelligent Platforms received the standardization of Proficy® Software from the Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) of the Cincinnati City. The software platform is used for optimization of wet weather operations, equipment and facilities.

Use of Proficy® Software

The solutions offered by Proficy® Software will enable the City of Cincinnati to join dots of dismantled and disparate information pieces regarding wastewater system. This information shall be made available from remote locations and will help in better understanding of system-wide perspective regarding watersheds.

The MSD shall work together with General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) Intelligent Platforms and Gray Matter Systems (its solutions and integration partner), in order to make proper application of Proficy Software in Cincinnati.

In this regard, Cincinnati’s Director of Water and Sewers, Tony Parrott opined that the city would like to experiment in terms of new technologies, so as to improve the quality of water.

Purpose of GE Intelligent Platforms Project in City of Cincinnati

Among various purposes, the most important aim of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) Intelligent Platforms Project in this city is to help in bringing combined sewer discharges. All this is a part of Clean Water Act, an initiative of Environmental Protection Agency in the U.S. The Act envisages that all U.S. cities need to bring down and in few cases, completely stop; the untreated wastewater discharge into environment. The rule is mandatory for all wastewater systems in the U.S.

Proficy® Software of General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) is a step taken by MSD to work in line of the aforementioned requirement of the Act. For this purpose, the MSD in Cincinnati will make complete use of entire software suite, which encompasses Industrial Automation Solutions, mobile applications and other features. All these prospects of software will help in accumulating and disseminating imperative data on surfeit water generated during snowmelt of heavy rainfall.

The software will help the City in not just doing something apart from the conventional approval of building infrastructure but will also allow it to save a huge amount of money.
