The report analyzes the latest trends in digital technologies. It states that a decline in the cost of sensing and communications products can encourage the use of digital technologies in the future.
When the buying cost will be lower of consumer products, home-makers will want to add more and more Smart objects in their home. It will be possible in a mature, affluent market. Nick Jones, VP and analysts at Gartner Inc (NYSE:IT), said that existing range of consumer products will convert into smart products as they will feature sensing and intelligence along with the ability to communicate on wireless platform. The smart devices will have sensing and remote control features. The purchase of smart devices will not slowdown due to cost as the price of the Internet of Things resulting a consumer ‘thing’ is expected to reach $1 in the long term.
The speed of replacement
The speed with which the smart objects will be added in the average home will be slow for at least a decade. Homemakers don’t change the large domestic appliances frequently and, therefore, the pace of including smart objects in the home will be slow. A mature, smart home will become a complete reality somewhere around 2020.

The smart domestic products will be available in all categories including media, entertainment, appliances, transport technologies, healthcare, security controls, environmental controls and fitness equipments.
