FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) Hires Richard Baxter As Senior Managing Director And Head Of Indirect Taxation

Boston, MA 10/07/2014 (wallstreetpr) – FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) disclosed that it appointed Richard Baxter as its Senior Managing Director. He would also be heading its Indirect Taxation in its European Tax Advisory practice.

Indirect Tax Expertise

FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) stated that Baxter has solid experience in the field of indirect taxation, its statement indicated. He has over 25 years of experience in both the private, as well as, public sectors in a broad range of industries. He would be based in London but handled both the U.K. and the U.S. multinational companies on the domestic and global value-added tax matters. This apart, he has enough experience in handling partial exemption methodologies, indirect tax compliance, transaction-based VAT-planning, VAT technology applications projects, customs duties and tax litigation.

FTI Consulting said the Baxter also managed cases before the VAT Tribunal, the European Court of Justice and the High courts. He is a Chartered Institute of Taxation member and holds a degree from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE:FCN) indicated that Baxter’s role in FTI Consulting would be to provide clients with senior counsel on matters concerning commercial VAT solutions. Before the latest assignment, he was with Alvarez & Marsal Taxland, LLC, since 2009 serving as Head for its Global Indirect Tax Service Line. He was also part of building Deloitte’s indirect tax technology and remained the Head at Andersen’s UK indirect tax team.

Management Comments

The European Tax Advisory practice Head, Marvin Rust, said that Baxter has wide experience in counseling big corporate on the best possible ways to navigate the difficult indirect taxation management and compliance. This apart, there were frequent regulatory changes that warranted to stay updated with current norms. He said that Baxter would make an excellent addition to its team to improve its service to clients, who were looking manage tax risks. His appointment would provide a competitive edge to it.
