Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F): Set To Recall The Problem Vehicles

Boston, MA 04/10/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Recalling the vehicles has started becoming a part of the automobile industry. In the list now another name is added of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F). The company has announced two recalls. The number of vehicles recalled will be around 435,000 vehicles.

The first set of recall

The first recall is of 386,000 Escape SUVs. The vehicles are reported to have the corrosion issues in its sub frame.  These vehicles were built between 2001 and 2004. The problem of corrosion can lead to separation of lower control arm. It is a risky situation as it can cause the problem of diminishing steer control. Till this time one crash is reported due to the problem. The recall is made to resolve the problem by installing reinforcement cross brace in the vehicles.

The recalled vehicles are located in different states including New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and many others. The total number of states counts to 20.  About 37000 escapes will be recalled from Canada alone.

Second Recall

Coming to the second recall, it covers 48,960 Ford Escapes, Fusions, Lincoln MKZs, and C-MAXs.  The problem area in the second recall is the seat back frames. They are not doing well as per the safety standards. The problem has not resulted in any accident or injury till this time.

The problem in industry

The problem of recalling the vehicles is not confined to Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F). Even some of the competitor rivals have been dealing with the problem.  The automobile companies recalling the vehicles have to deal with the extra costs and have to make substantial efforts to save the brand image. Meanwhile there is always a risk of competitors gaining the advantage of the situation. In this particular case it is a step taken by Ford well in advance. It is the right strategy to recall the vehicles back before any major accidents or injuries take place and creates a harm to company’s brand name.
