Boston, MA 08/20/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Giant U.S automaker Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has announced plans to recall about 160,000 of its Focus ST and Escapes models made between 2013 and 2014; making it the 11th time that the escape is being recalled since 2013. The automaker has also confirmed that 133,000 of the vehicles being recalled, are in the U.S with the remaining spread in Mexico and Canada.
Wiring harness problem
Reports indicate that flaws in the wiring harnesses of some of the models might cause transmission of wrong signals to the power-train model. The flaw if un-attended to might result in the switching on of the engine malfunction indicator light, stalling of the vehicle, as well as, loss of power in the engine, which might cause accidents. Motor recalls have surged this year for the majority of the automakers with General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) leading the pack on the same front.
Minor Recalls
The latest recall follows on the heels of Ford announcing the recall of 2012-2014 Ford Edge and LincolnMKX; the company has also recalled 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) Taurus and Lincoln MKS were recalled’ because of a wrong installation of a clip on the axle which may separate the half-shaft from the link-shaft, abruptly cutting power transmission to the wheels. The problem may result in a crash when one is driving or force a car to roll away if emergency brakes are not engaged.
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) has already recalled a total of 83,520 vehicles attributed to this problem with repairs expected to commence later in the month. No injuries or accidents have been reported. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) had also announced some minor recalls earlier in the month that affected 1320 new 2015 Transit Commercial vans which may have a problem of brake fluid-leak, which may affect braking while driving.
