Employees distribute meals to the hungry
The company celebrated the May 3, 2014 as the Fifth Third Day on which around 20k employees of the Fifth Third Bancorp distributed more than 770k meals. The company reports that this would be the third year that it has contributed towards fighting hunger. Since the last twenty years, the company has been contributing towards supporting communities in one way or the other with the help of its employees.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB), Kevin T. Kabat, has reportedly said that the company has always celebrated this day as the Fifth Third Day. On this day it has always tried to encourage its employees to go beyond their normal job responsibilities to help out their local communities. He reveals that the company acknowledges the social issues that exist in the world today and this year it has tried to eradicate hunger as far as possible. The CEO also said that the Fifth Third Bancorp is committed to meeting the needs of its communities.
Fifth Third Bancorp partnered with the FreeStoreFoodBank in order to distribute Power pack meals at schools with underprivileged kids in Cincinnati. The company joined hands with the Atlanta Community and the Golden Harvest Food Bank in order to hold events called the “Strike Out Hunger” events in Georgia.
The company distributed sandwiches along with peanut butter and jelly with the help of its employees in Northwestern Ohio. Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB) also partnered with the Tri-State Food Ban to distribute food in Southwestern Indiana again with the help of its employees in the state. The company also distributed meals amongst the residents of Covenant House in St. Louis, which shelters the underprivileged youths of the state.
