Boston, MA 04/23/2014 (wallstreetpr)  – The Foundation for Newark’s Future launched by $100 million grant of  Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)‘s Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that it aims to enhance its achievement through extending a helping hand to the city’s toddlers and babies.

Aims To Improve Child And Health Services

Newark Foundation, along with three philanthropies, The Schumann Fund, the Turrell Fund and Nicholson Foundation earmarked $1 million towards a range of plans, which includes training directors and teachers in centers for children from infancy to age group 3. The pledged funds will also be put to develop mobile apps to facilitate parents find child care and health services with ease. The philanthropy money came after $250,000 was pledged last year and challenged other donors to match it in order to bring value to children, before they reach preschool. U.S. Sen Cory Booker said that it is important to start focusing on children right from their infancy to the time they reach school. Booker is the one, who helped garner Zuckerberg’s attention towards the foundation in 2010, when he was mayor.

An Account Of Spending

The Foundation stated that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has till date spend $82.3 million, and reached a milestone where a majority attained K-12 education.Apart from this, the group helped to settle a three-year teachers contract in 2012 through spending $48.5 million. The contract gave retroactive pay and attached bonuses to student performance for the first time. Under the contract, $1.4 million was paid out as bonuses to 190 teachers last year. The foundation was created to raise $100 million matching contributions as well as to take care of the grants. The CEO of the foundation, Kimberly McClain, said that the foundation is near to its goal, however, he declined to speak out the details and said that information will be disclosed once partners are ready.
