Boston, MA 07/15/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced its new tool called the “Graph Search Engine” earlier this year. The CEO intends to take over the Google Search Engine with this new tool. Well, the big question is will Facebook’s graph search engine take over Google search?? Or will it doom to fizzle out like the Facebook home?
Facebook had launched “Facebook Home” as a replacement to Android and to become a threat to Google’s dominance in smartphones and tablets. However, Facebook failed to do so because of the poor design of the launcher. The launcher, Facebook home, was pulled out of market as it was hugely unsuccessful. However, with the launch of Graph search, Mark Zuckerberg still intends to take over Google’s dominance in the internet sector.
Graph Search engine is a unique tool designed for users to search for common interest of theirs with their Facebook connection. In addition to this, it also allows users to search for friends, photos etc. For example, users can search for Music my friends like, Games my friends play, Photos liked by me etc. This new tool of Facebook seems to be very user friendly, as it has filtered the search types in various combinations as mentioned in the examples. The whole idea behind it is to make their friends’ opinions the center of the searchable universe.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has no doubt given a new edge to the search engines but will this be enough to replace Google search engine is the big question. This kind of personalized search result is sure to give tough competition to websites like Yelp.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s main intention is to change the traditional pattern of searching the Internet via Google, Bing etc. It wants to show that searching via post, links, sites etc liked by their friends is more effective and useful than using the traditional patterns.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s Graph search is sure to challenge websites like Yelp. But it’s hard to say if it is effective enough to replace Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG). However, the graph search tool will be a boon for the advertisers as they can precisely target specific audience with their ads, which could be its saving grace.
