Boston, MA 09/19/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Everyone knows that the CEO of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Mark Zuckerberg is on the list of a few most successful young CEOs of the world. He now wants more and more students in American high schools to take up tech as their preferred subject. Mark Zuckerberg, while addressing the students of Sequoia High School of Redwood City yesterday, said that the students should become well-paid techies and that can also belong to the workforce of this huge social media network that he owns.
Zuckerberg Advices High School Students
He told the students that having knowledge of computers and technology is important so as to have various options in hand and do whatever one feels like. Expressing his views regarding the future jobs, he told the students that the work in prospect will be different from today. He advised students to use that difference for their advantage.
Laptop Donation to the School
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), in the meanwhile, also announced that it shall be donating 50 laptops to the students of Sequoia High School and will also be forming a class so as to let students learn how mobile applications can be created for the smartphones.
The presence of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO in the school, which is in proximity of the headquarters of the company in Menlo Park, is a part of company’s campaign to egg on youngsters (especially girls) in taking up careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Opportunities for the Next Zuckerberg
In context with this, the Chief Information Officer of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Tim Campos said that the company was trying to create similar opportunities for the students who could be like Zuckerberg.
One of the juniors of the same school, Rosie Valencia did internship at Facebook this summer. She also interviewed the CEO on stage yesterday.
Interestingly, the companies situated in the Silicon Valley have attracted a lot of critics for zeroing in their attention over workforces comprising of Asians, white, male and young.
