Boston, MA 09/04/2014 (wallstreetpr) – eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) is reported to have experienced disruptions over the last two days that prevented people from accessing its website. Bloomberg reports that the outages were also’ experienced at Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
Disruptions Across the Tech Industry
eBay has confirmed that some of its users had difficulties logging into their accounts. The company has attributed the disruption to technical issues that might have arisen when server maintenance was being carried out. Most of the users according to eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) were unaffected by the disruptions. Facebook had also said that some of its users experienced difficulties while logging into their account, the problem it attributes to infrastructure configuration change.
eBayInc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) and Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) disruption come in the wake of Apple confirming that some of its users had experienced problems while trying to sign into their iTunes accounts. Some of the Apple users in this case were’ disrupted while trying to make purchases. It has been a week of outages in some of the biggest tech companies with Yahoo also confirming that its Tumblr service had been affected by outages, which it also attributes to maintenance hitches.
eBay Settles Talent Poaching Claims
Separately, Reuters reports that eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) has reached an agreement with Federal anti-trust authorities after it was’ accused of poaching employees from its rivals. Under the agreement eBay has promised not to make any deals with other tech companies with a view of tapping their employees. The settlement comes in the wake of increased scrutiny from authorities on increased poaching in Silicon Valley.
eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) is reported to have agreed to pay a total of $3.75 million as damages to employees who might have been affected by the settlement. Apple and Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) had in the past been forced settle with federal authorities over the same issue of poaching each other talents.
