Locations of the project
The Capps II Industrial site is 168 acres farmland located in Marion County. The Florence Regional Airport Industrial Park is a 438-acre land for large-scale aerospace industrial recruitment located in Florence County. Alligator Industrial Park is 550-acre Chesterfield County site located on S.C. Highway 151 having access to necessities like rail, natural gas and electricity. The Reliance Industrial Site in Marlboro County is 100 acres land that has access to two major interstate highways. The Williamsburg County farmland in Kingstree is a 314-acre site that offers possibilities to expand and increase the tax base and can compete for new jobs and industry regionally.
The next step by the company
McCallum Sweeney Consulting has been appointed by Duke Energy Corp (NYSE:DUK) for conducting site studies. A detailed report with conceptual drawings will be presented to county officials after the completion of the study.The price of electricity is the most important factor for large industries. Duke Energy provides electricity at reasonable and even below the national average rates.
Duke Energy Corp (NYSE:DUK) will work with county leaders and local economic development professionals to workout a plan for providing basic amenities like water, sewer and electricity. The parties are expected to propose road improvements, easements and rights-of-way required for the development of the sites and take necessary steps to reduce negative environmental impacts. The company’s business development team will market these sites nationwide to the companies looking for expansion or relocation of their operations after site’s state of readiness has been advanced.
