Dannon’s coffee-flavored yogurt earned a cult-like following over the decades. Now that it’s disappeared from store shelves, longtime devotees have launched a petition to bring it back, flooded social media with disappointment and searched for substitutes.
“In an unexpected move, Dannon recently discontinued their much-loved coffee yogurt flavor as of April 1,” reads a Change.org petition urging Dannon to bring back coffee yogurt.
“This has left countless fans of this unique and delicious product in dismay. Coffee yogurt provided a delightful blend of rich coffee flavor and creamy yogurt, a perfect option for those seeking a pick-me-up in a healthy and satisfying snack.”

A 5.3-ounce cup of Dannon’s coffee yogurt, known by enthusiasts as simply “DCY,” “contained about 32 milligrams of caffeine, or about a third of an 8-ounce cup of coffee,” along with 11 grams of added sugar, The Wall Street Journal reported.
New Jersey lawyer Doron Zeif ate DCY for 40 years and told the publication, “It’s what I got out of bed for.”
Lisa Signorelli, a retiree from New York, told the Journal she frequently bought cases of DCY to feed her “50-year obsession.”
“Discontinuing this flavor has removed a valuable and cherished option for yogurt lovers everywhere, particularly for those who appreciate the distinct taste of coffee,” the petition further states.
Social media users echoed the petition’s sentiment.

“I’m going through serious withdrawal symptoms now that Dannon has discontinued their coffee yogurt, which I have been happily eating for years and years,” one person wrote on a Reddit forum asking if it’s possible to make something “akin to Dannon coffee yogurt.”
“I’m honestly quite bummed about it,” the user added. “I know there are other companies out there that make coffee yogurt, but it’s the texture that was a big part of it.”
“I’m seriously going through withdrawal!” another Reddit user commented. “Other coffee yogurts are not the same. And making our own version, while healthier, would also not taste the same. I have been having this particular Dannon for literally decades, every day!”
Several people offered advice for replicating the fan-favorite yogurt by adding instant or liquid coffee to other Dannon yogurts. One commenter encouraged fans of Dannon’s coffee yogurt to call the company, noting, “A human being actually picks up the phone!”

The Dannon Coffee Yogurt Fanatics Facebook page includes many people exchanging methods for trying to match the DCY flavor.
“I was a serial DCY user for some 40 years, and I was convinced I’d never get over Dannon’s decision this year,” wrote a woman who identified herself as a “recovering fanatic.” “I tried DIY DCY, but none made the cut. My son-in-law convinced me to try Icelandic Provisions Cold Brew Coffee Skyr, and within days I was hooked. DCY would seem too sweet and thin by comparison.”
The door doesn’t seem to be completely shut forever to Dannon’s coffee yogurt, however.
“Dannon coffee yogurt will come back in ways that reflect the taste preferences, flavor profile and nutritional benefits many consumers seek in the yogurt aisle today,” Rafael Acevedo, president of Dannon’s yogurt division, told the Journal.

A post on Dannon’s Instagram shows a photo of DCY and says, “Miss it? We’d love to hear from you.” Dannon captioned the post, “The passion for Dannon coffee yogurt has been incredible to see. DM us and we will keep you posted for future updates.”
“My grandmother, who passed away in 2011, had one every day,” one user replied. “It was a treat when she’d share it with me as a kid, and now it serves as a special memory. It’s also the best flavor! Please bring it back!”
“I miss it so much!” wrote another. “Please bring it back; I am tired of mixing coffee and vanilla yours from other brands. It never tastes as good as the classic Dannon coffee.”
Dannon declined to comment to Fox News Digital.
