Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) appoints Anil Wadhwani to head consumer banking in Europe, Africa and Middle East

The management of Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) have recently appointed Anil Wadhwani who is a veteran executive from its Asian Business. This appointment of the veteran executive has been done in order to lead the consumer and commercial banking business in Europe, Africa and also the Middle East belonging to Citigroup Inc.

Wadhwani who has been the recent head of the banks’ cards, consumer banking division and unsecured loans in South East Asia will now be the head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa business which is also known as EMEA Business. This business would be having 202 branches located in the countries and would be having 2.5 million customers engaged in this across 10 countries.

The income to be earned from this business spread over 10 countries is estimated to provide $19 million during its third quarter despite a 7 percent year by year fall in the revenues to $359 million. This is the estimation which is believed to be earned from the starting of this project.

The Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup Inc EMEA region, Jim Cowles commented on the same, “The emerging consumer banking and also wealth management businesses would be the key growth areas in the region. This would also be the key growth areas for the forthcoming years. ”

According to the management of Citigroup Inc and Chief executive Officer of Citigroup Inc, the three trends required for successful running of a business known as digitization, globalization and urbanization would be a part of the EMEA business region. These three factors would continue to be on the side of the organization and would help in contributing long term profitable plans to the business.

Anil Wadhwani who has been with Citigroup Inc since 1992 said that the EMEA consumer banking strategy will focus on providing services to the global customers.
