CEO SatyaNadellaTo Address Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Earnings Call

Boston, MA 04/24/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is scheduled to report its third-quarter earnings today after the bell, but the interesting fact about the event is not the numbers rather the first highly awaited appearance of it’s new CEO SatyaNadella. The earnings call will be the first one since Nadella took charge of the software giant. At the same time, Nadella’s presence will break Microsoft’s long time record of releasing earnings without the presence of its CEO.

Analysts Pleased

Analysts from the Wall Street are keen on listening to Nadella and as Monrningstar’s senior equity analyst, Norman Young, says that the decision to address the earnings call is a way to step up accountability and its set a right tone for the investors. Young added that it is a pretty big thing as Steve Ballmer never appeared on a call during his entire stint with the company. FBR’s analyst Daniel Ives say that Nadell’s decision to come on a call reflects overall positivity that the company is on its track. Moreover, the step is seen as one forward towards transparency as it gives investors a correct sense of what to anticipate. Evercore analyst Kirk Materne said that the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) ‘s management is working hard to keep expectations near reality and avert any surprises as it moves forward in its transitional phase.

Weak Quarter Estimates; Focus on Key Areas

Apart from this, analysts are estimating $0.63 per share on revenue of $20.39 billion in what they see as a seasonally weak quarter. The main key areas where investors and analysts have an interest are its Window franchise, the cloud business and mobile strategy. Amid a stabilizing PC shipments, the company’s Windows sales are expected to have reached the bottom. Aside this, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)  is expected to throw some light for its plans about the Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) acquisition that will complete this Friday.
