Boston, MA 10/29/2013 (wallstreetpr) – Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE:BSX) has good news for hypertension or high blood pressure patients. Its new equipment called – Vessix- will now allow doctors to treat hypertension patients, who no longer respond to medical treatment. The procedure using Vessix will allow doctors to now lower blood pressure to normal measurements. Such medical procedures are very critical for some patient’s survival and could well help patients back to the path of recovery claim doctors at the Cardiovascular Center Frankfurt, Germany. Vessix has proved to lower the systolic blood pressure by 29 mm/Hg. This ensures that such of the patients who do not respond to medical treatment to bring blood pressure back to normal levels are no longer at risk.
High blood pressure is known to typically cause heart attacks, strokes and other fatal attacks. According to global statistical data, 1.2 billion people suffer from hypertension and nearly one-third of these suffers are known not to respond well to medical treatment.
In medical terms the process is called ‘renal deneravation’ process and radio frequencies are used to numb or deactivate renal nerves that are overactive and cause of such hyper tension.
Vessix is in direct competition against similar product -Symplicity – introduced by Medtronic, a Minneapolis based company. Incidentally, Medtronic has been conducting medical studies for the use of deneravation process and has results to prove the success of its hardware from three years past. Additionally, Symplicity is found to have denervation results and was found to be effective in lowering the blood pressure of affected patients to 33 mm/Hg over Vessix capabilities of 29 mm/Hg. Medtronics study found that 85% of the patients studied responded to the treatment.
Boston Scientific Study also involved in studying the results of the use of Vessix on 139 patients and found that the risk of strokes was lowered by 70% following the Vessix procedure.
