Boston, MA 04/14/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) is a $10.24 billion software company, which is best known for 3D modeling software. The company recently announced setting up a foundation whose operations will be run separately, although the board of the foundation includes the company’s executives.
Autodesk Foundation is a design-led entity that will be concerned with seeking answers to some of the key social problems such as access to water, healthcare and climate change. The foundation will make investment in non-profit firms from selected locations around the world, but more so India, Haiti and Africa, which seem to be the immediate focus for the organization.
Towards addressing the aforementioned global challenges, the foundation will provide software, finance and training support to identified design firms. In the first year, the foundation has earmarked $7.5 million in software donation to more than 500 design-oriented non-profits.
The foundation is governed separately from the company, but it nonetheless furthers the interests of Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK), which seeks to play a leading role in providing solutions that not only help industrial productions, but also contributes towards alleviating the impacts of climate change.
Building a pool of talents
While the foundation has a separate leadership from Autodesk, it is not difficult to see that the company is out to build a pool of talents through the foundation that will be vital in creating scalable solutions in the design-led industry. Technology companies put a lot of premium on talents and seeking and identifying talents through grants investment is a good way for Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) to ensure that it always remains on top of its game and drives maximum value to shareholders.
The company is looking for looming opportunities in proving software solutions which can help in disaster response, climate change, healthcare and challenges of urbanization. And in solving the problems, the company hopes to stimulate the expansion of its revenue.
Need for better results
Although Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK) reported earnings and revenue beat in the most recently reported quarter, more is still expected from the company. It reported EPS of 40 cents, topping consensus estimate of 34 cents. Revenue came in at $587 million, exceeding consensus estimate at $572.84 million.
