Boston, MA 06/27/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched its new iPod Touch with some new and exciting features at the cut down prices as compared to its earlier versions. Apple has lowered the prices of its iPod Touch portable media players because the quarterly sales of the gadget have come down drastically in last one decade. The 64GB version of the latest iPod Touch is available at $299 instead of $399, making it $100 cheaper. Similarly a 25% of price cut down is done in its 32GB and 16GB versions which are now available just for $249 and $199 respectively.
In spite of the decline in the prices, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has gifted these gadgets with some new features like a 5MP iSight camera, expanded color options and hardware updates.
Apple App Sales Far Ahead In The Race
Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Android undoubtedly leads in the smart phone market share, but Apple is far ahead of it when it comes to paid download apps. The margin is quite large as Apple gets twice the app sales as compared to those of Google that too just with half of the users.
As per Timothy Arcuri, Cowen & Company (NASDAQ:COWN) analyst, Apple paid its app developers about $8 billion the last year as compared to Google’s payout of about $5 billion this year. Not only this, Apple generated revenue of more than approx $10 billion as compared to that of Google’s $5 billion in the current year.
Apple Drops Yahoo Weather App
As per Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s one of the announcements at the Worldwide Developers Conference, it would no longer take the services from Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) in the form of its iOS weather app. Instead Apple would get its services from the same place that Yahoo was getting it; the Weather Channel. The current app will be replaced by the new app from Weather Channel, equipped with better location data and longer range forecasts.
