Apollo Group Inc (NASDAQ:APOL) also formed a joint-venture with The Carlyle Group, called Apollo Global, to pursue investments mainly in the international-education services industry. As of 31 August 2011, the Apollo Group owned 85.6 percent of Apollo Global and Carlyle owned the balance 14.4%. In year ended 31 December 2011, the Other Schools section included IPD and CFFP and Meritus University. The latter’s operations have been discontinued.

The University of Phoenix offers its educational-programs across the world via its online education delivery-system and at its campus-locations and learning-centers in 40 different states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
